My work is narrative, I’m a storyteller drawn to opposites and images with two halves, elevating mundane objects, investing them sometimes playfully sometimes poetically with ambiguous meaning and mythology. Family histories and stories, real or imagined, changing borders, lost places and spaces occupy the mapping , while colour and the lack of it symbolise two separate worlds, echoing my dual heritage, Polish and English.
I use materials that reflect these ambiguities of perception and charge the senses - salt and snow, ice and velvet , moss and stone, mirrors and glass, whether crystal or stained, which has the properties of both a solid and a liquid, but is neither .
All of these, of course, are notoriously unreliable narrators.
